Kylie's visit and other great stuff  - Part Two
The 3 of us went out for a hike to Wind Cave.  It was a great day but Kylie prefers the forest.  She wasn't a fan of climbing on the rocks.  Luckily our neighbor Mona lent us a hiking stick for her as she was a little tentative on the climb down.

The pictures above are from Jerome and Sedona.  At Jerome (which is a old mining town - ghost town that they claim is haunted) we visited an old copper mine and toured a museum in an amazing old mansion.  We walked along the old town and admired the old buildings before heading on to Sedona.   Kylie and I want to return to Sedona for a girl's outing.  It is kind of a spiritual kind of place.  There are lots of tours and metaphysical and retreat type things going on here which appealed to the both of us.  We had lunch at a western cafe right in the downtown part of Sedona.  We walked up to a beautiful church and admired the red rocks and huge expensive homes below.

We also went citrus picking.  We got 2 big bags of oranges and grapefruits.  We pigged out on both!
These 2 pictures are from the Schnepf farm in Queen's creek.  It is an organic farm where you can pick your own veggies or buy already picked.  They also make amazing jams and salsas.  We went for the peach festival.  The earliest peaches will be ready in May.

Kylie's face just lights up whenever she sees goats.   Heh, she must have been a goat farmer in her past life.

These are from the Phoenix Botanical Garden.  The garden itself isn't as amazing as many of the botanical gardens we have been to but the glass art done by Dale Chihuly was amazing.
All of these pieces are blown glass.  We watched as the garden workers painstakingly dusted each piece carefully.  You could buy beautiful pieces in the gift shop for only about 6000.00  At night they light up the glass and the pictures I have seen of that are amazing.

  2. Loved the pics of Kylie and Don climbing the rocks. I might agree with Kylie about liking the forest part better, but not sure. Will have to try the rock climbing to be sure.
THe Hotel connor is SO much like a building downtown here. I am not sure what it is now but it is that corner angle type brick building. So interesting!Good to see that someone is stll using it too.
Totally fun you guys picking all tha citrus and going to the organic farms. I bet that is really something great to see and no doubt Kylie was interested in the plants growing there.
