Lake Havasu, Spring Break, Friends and Relatives!!!

We got to Lake Havasu on Thursday and the days have flown by.  Spring break is on right now and Lake Havasu is the number 2 spring break place to go.  The weather has been hot (in the 90's) so we haven't really done much hiking or bike riding since we got here. We are staying at the Campbell Cove RV resort and it is pretty cramped but close to the water so its all good!  There is also a nice pool very close to where we are parked and that is a necessity on these hot days.

We have been down walking along the Lake by the London Bridge.  It is beautiful down there although super busy with all the boats, kids, music and shenanigansWe spent a couple of hours onseparate days checking out downtown Havasu as we did not see that last time we were here.  There was a car show on one day so we went to take a look

Don checking out our new tow car!   I wish!

It was fun looking at all the cars and people and booths selling all kinds of stuff!  We got a 10% discount coupon for a restaurant so decided to try it for lunch.

The restaurant, called the Golden Horseshoe,  doesn't even really look like a restaurant when you drive by.  It is a wild wild west theme and was kinda fun.
Can you believe this pastrami sandwich

When you come into the restaurant they give you a big bucket of peanuts, which you shell and throw the shells on the floor.  Seemed really weird to do that but it was kinda fun to throw your food on the floor.
The shore was crammed full of boats full of spring breakers, dancing, drinking and having a great time.
This is a lime shaved ice.  Not to be confused with a snow cone.  The ice is shaved off a huge chunk and then drizzled with sugary yumminess.  You dont end up with a bunch of boring ice at the end either.
This is like a where's waldo.  Don wants to know if you can spot the pasties Earl.
Hahhahaha this kills me.  This guy, who is, lets just say over 65 comes to spring break every day dressed in  one of his rather extensive wardrobe of banana hammocks.  I loved looking at the people who looked at him.  Was almost as entertaining as watching the boys watching the girls.
We met these nice young people yesterday.  We were sitting on the bench, I was enjoying my shaved ice and I won't even begin to tell you what Don was enjoying.  I noticed that I had slopped lime on my shirt just as the one young man set his stuff on our bench.  I said, oh sh** look at this.  He thought he slopped on me and was very concerned.  Long story short, I then got to know quite a bit about him as he blurted out about his sick brother and what not.  His friends were standing waiting and finally the cute little girl with the pink hair said, hello, we are waiting for you.  I said, you guys are so cute, let me take a picture - they said only if I would be in it too.  It was pretty fun and not something I expected to be blogging about!
Last night we went out for supper with Don and Bev to Mudshark (where do they get the names for these places?) Luckily we managed  to see them - they are headed back home on Tuesday and I feel their pain!  These are onion rings but the guys called them donuts. They really are the size of donuts..
This is my Uncle Maurice and Aunt Phyllis.  They live here in Havasu for the winter.  This is them in front of their awesome trailer complete with man cave!  They took us for lunch at the Golden Corral - it is a buffet place.  It was one of the nicest buffets I have ever been to.  There really couldnt have been anything you wanted but could not find on this buffet.  And . . . for dessert there was also a chocolate fountain.  I realized that I hadn't taken any pictures here but it was so nice to see them that I was probably too busy yakking and eating.  We will try and stay in their park next time we come here.  We were so happy to see them as it has been nearly 20 years!  Thanks for the lunch date - we enjoyed it very much!
I almost missed this beautiful cactus flower - but luckily Phyllis pointed it out to me.  Amazing or what?
This is the sunset we see out over the lake every night.

Quote of the day:
We never really grow up, we only learn how to act in public
