We walked the 1 or 2 miles from the downtown to Pier 39. Was a really nice walk and much to see - was just fun looking at the scenery and watching the people - totally free - no charge for this tour!
After that we decided to have us some breakfast!
Could I eat this all - NOPE, did I want to - HELLS YEAH!
The bananas were also cooked right into the buttermilk pancakes - and the fruit was sooo good. You wouldn't think it would make a difference but I guess being grown close by - it does!
Good thing we walked a kajillion miles today!
We did a leisurely stroll around Pier 39 (again) and watched the sea lions (again) - they all seem to lay on the same 2 docks. Today one of them tipped the dock and they all went sliding off. Ha ha - doesn't take much to amuse me.
Then we spent the afternoon at Alcatraz. This was such an interesting tour - and it is really well planned out. You take a boat to the island (obviously) and then tour at your leisure and boats leave every hour or so. It is a long uphill walk to get to the cells. http://www.photoscapedesign.com/Places/California-2009/Alcatraz/8982928_BfPT2f/601555751_vDcJt#!i=601473771&k=b4Pv9
And of course my blog would not be complete without a bird or a plant!
This is Agave. Such a beautiful plant and they are all over the island. There are lots of interesting birds on the island as well. http://www.nps.gov/alca/naturescience/seabirds.htm
I did not see a night heron yet but was lucky enough to see egrets and cormorants - and pigeons and gulls by the millions. They wander around inside the patios where people are eating, and even go inside sometimes.
These look like giant hens and chicks.
Lol, guess u did take that tour after all lol! What a freakin great trip! is that aomethin youve always wanted to do? Agave- neat! Are the leaves thick like aloe!?
